BAE Systems Principal Continuous Improvement Engineer in Nashua, New Hampshire

Job Description

The person selected for the position will be part of a team responsible for supporting the growth of Continuous Improvement (CI) across a variety of factories in the manufacturing operation s organization. The selected individual must be able to operate independently with the ability to lead and influence others through actions and demonstration of continuous improvement knowledge. Candidate should possess the skills necessary to drive change and support the development of a continuous improvement culture. Candidate must be capable of taking a leadership role to drive the implementation of major Continuous Improvement programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with factory leadership teams to help develop and execute CI plans designed to support the specific needs of their factory.

  • Lead PFMEA s and implement process control plans

  • Support the efforts of global improvement programs such as the Zero Defect Initiative

  • Provide consulting support and facilitation services for new CI projects

  • Support the Lean manufacturing training programs by being part of the classroom instructor team

  • Facilitate the sharing of best practices across the operation s organization

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Required education: Bachelor Degree in a Technical Discipline

  • In depth understanding of Lean manufacturing and risk assessment tools

  • Strong analytic skills

  • Understand the components and benefits for building a visual factory

  • Experience in leading continuous improvement efforts from the factory floor

  • Experience in teaching a variety of Lean and/or Six Sigma topics

  • Ability to lead and/or facilitate Kaizen events

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified (certification based on industry standards)

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Lean certified (ASQ standards)

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certified (certification based on industry standards)
